March Leadership
Application Clinic
Leadership Participants
need to complete final forms by March 8th!!!
All Spring Valley students who are
interested in applying for a leadership
position next year need to attend an
important clinic on Monday, March 22.
In addition, any student who would like to
be a leader at any time in the future is
invited to participate in this clinic as
well. Confirmation and $20
from each student interested was due on March 1st.
The $20 covers the materials for the clinic.
For those students who have
registered for the clinic, we need some very
important forms to be completed, typed, and
returned to Mr. Humber by email no later
than Monday, March 8. Links for
each form can be found below in MICROSOFT
WORD format...

Pre-Festival Concert next Tuesday,
March 9!!!
We will have our
Pre-Festival Concert next week on Tuesday,
March 9 beginning at 6:00. Concert
Band students should arrive at school by
5:30 and be on stage in their seats for a
5:45 warm-up. Symphonic Band students
will need to be here by 6:00.
Concert Band will perform
first at 6:00 followed immediately by the
Symphonic Band, Summit Parkway Honor Band,
and E.L. Wright Honor Band in that order.
We look forward to seeing you
at our concert next week!!!

Region Band and
All-State Auditions
Region Band and
All-State Band rosters have been
finalized.
Students that made the commitment to
audition, performed and
were assessed on the assigned state
solo, all scales from memory within
2 minutes, chromatic scale for the
range of their instrument
requirement, 2-sight reading
selections, and a music vocabulary
quiz.
Region Band auditions
were held at Dutch Fork H.S.
on Saturday, January 9th, and All-
State Auditions were held this past
Saturday at Lexington H.S., January
23rd.
The Region
Band students will rehearse and
perform their concerts at Nations
Ford H.S. on Friday and Saturday
February 26-27.
The All- State Band students will
rehearse and perform their concert
at Furman University on Friday,
Saturday and Sunday March 12, 13,
14.
Each clinic weekend has a Junior
Band level- 7th and 8th grade,
Clinic Band level-9th and 10th
grade, and Senior Band level-
11th and 12th grade.

Congratulations to the
2008-2009 Symphonic Band
They were awarded the 2009 Grand
National Champion Award for their
performance at the All-Star Music Festival
in Orlando, FL last May.
