SUPERIOR WITH DISTINCTION
A huge Thank You to our band booster parents who chaperoned and served food and transported our instruments, and for your support while in the audience.
SV Concert Band earned a "Superior With Distinction" rating performing class IV literature.
SV Symphonic Band earned a "Superior With Distinction" rating performing class VI literature.
The accolade of "With Distinction" signifies that all five adjudicators gave perfect scores to all rubric categories for both the prepared concert literature and the sight reading performance.

2019 All-State Clinic
Josephine Gardiner, Carson Fields, and Band Director Dave Allison attended the 2019 South Carolina Band Director Association 2019 All-State Clinic held March 15-17 at Furman University. Attendance at this event is based on performance at two demanding state-wide auditions. It brings together the best middle and high school band musicians from South Carolina to honor their achievements and to learn under nationally recognized band clinicians. The weekend culminated with a concert on Sunday which showcased how talented these young musicians are. Congratulations Josie and Carson!

Pay Your Band Fees Online
Our Band Booster Board is happy to announce that we can now take credit card payments through our web site - just click on the tab above that says "Band Fees" for more information. The system will accept all major credit cards, however, a 3% convenience fee will be added to pay by credit card. When checking out, it is vitally important that you enter your band student's full name in the comment box to ensure proper posting of your payment! If you would like to avoid paying this convenience fee you may still submit your band fees by check or cash to the band safe in the band office.
Fundraise with United Scrip
If you do not know how Scrip works, this is how...
1. You order scrip (gift cards) in the amount and for the stores you want. Orders must be sent to Mary Havens via email (MHavens@sc.rr.com) or via text (803-606-7126) by 9:00 pm on Mondays.
2. You receive the gift cards at face value. For example, if you order a $25.00 Walmart gift card, you receive a $25.00 Walmart gift card.
3. A certain percentage, varies with each retailer, of that $25.00 which you paid, goes to your students band account for band fees. The percentage amount is noted on the retailers' list posted below.
4. You show up on Thursdays at 6:00 pm outside of the SVHS band room with a check for the amount due and you will receive the gift cards.
UnitedScrip Retailer List
Scrip is not a fast one time only fundraiser. The cards are ordered for the people who participate. If you make the decision to use scrip cards for your ordinary needs--gas, groceries, clothing, etc. and for special needs--birthdays, vacations, etc., it is totally possible to pay for your student's band fees without having to participate in another fundraiser or pay out-of-pocket. There are some who have done so, and more! There are some former band parents who still participate in the scrip program and have their profits credited to a current band student.
